Features & Changes
Ecosystem:
Doubled resources available across New Eden.
- Doubled all ore quantities in celestial asteroid belts in solar systems.
- Doubled all ore quantities in all resource cosmic anomalies.
- Doubled all ice quantities in Ice Belts (on top of the previous 200% increase).
- Doubled all Omber, Kernite, and Crokite quantities in sovereignty distributed cosmic anomalies, whilst Mercoxit quantities are increased by 20% (on top of the previous 200% increase).
- Doubled all Mykocerocin quantities, whilst reduced the spawn chance of extra sites that were added earlier this year.
- Doubled all Cytocerocin quantities.
- Doubled all Fullerine quantities.
- Doubled the extraction quantity from moons.
- Moon Extractions will take the same time as before, but will receive double the yield of ore when fractured.
- Extractions in progress and not yet fractured at the time of today's deployment will receive double the yield when they fracture.
Added a new Residue mechanic.
- While mining in New Eden, players will now be faced with a choice: Using high yield modules with more waste which use up local resources faster, lower yield but more conservative modules which don't waste any of the available resource or a balance between the two.
Ship Balance:
Developer Comment:
We're updating the balance of mining ships to change the way players approach mining in New Eden. For a long time, the choices in mining ships were limited, with players rushing to the high-end ships with the most survivability and largest yield - in particular, the Rorqual in Nullsec and the Orca in Highsec. There wasn't much interesting choice, and these ships were so dominant there was little room for smaller miners in the ecosystem to make meaningful income. The large ships had such an advantage, they suppressed the value of ore across New Eden.
We are addressing the power of these high-end ships to bring them more in-line with the Mining Barges, allowing them to be the centerpiece of mining fleets, rather than being the whole mining fleet. At the same time, we're significantly improving the yield and survivability of the mining barges, with the goal of enabling the miners of New Eden to make more interesting choices about the ships they choose to fly.
- 🤝 The 'Ore Hold' has been renamed to the 'Mining Hold'. This hold is a generic hold that allows for all harvestable resources to be held inside it (Asteroid & Moon ore, Gas, and Ice).
Only affected attributes/bonuses are listed.

Rorqual:
The Rorqual's solo mining yield is being tailored to be more in line with Mining Barges. This will move the Rorqual back to its previous role of on-field support. It will still be the single best option to bring to any mining site for optimization purposes but will no longer be scalable.
Capital Industrial Ships bonuses per skill level
6% reduction in Drone ice harvesting cycle time, decreased from 10%
The 10% bonus to Drone ore mining yield was incorrectly removed from the trait description. Bonus still in effect.
Orca:
The Orca is getting its base mining yield reduced significantly but it is receiving its own Industrial Core similar to that of the Rorqual's Industrial Core. It will gain most of it's yield back at the cost of having to now run the Core.
Industrial Command Ships bonuses per skill level
2% reduction in Drone ice harvesting cycle time, decreased from 10%

Mining Crystals:
Like mining lasers, mining crystals are also getting their own Residue probability and volume bonuses. The total Residue chance is determined by adding the stats of both the mining laser and the crystal you choose to use. Mining Crystals will still retain Volatility and increased Capacitor usage but with varying values depending on their type.
- Added new Mining Crystals that are replacing the previous crystals. Current inventories of the old crystals have been migrated to the new items, please see the Migration section for more information.
- Mining Crystals that are equipped will only allow for mining against the asteroids the crystal can be used for.
There are 66 new mining crystals, each unique with their own stats. In general however, they follow the following pattern:
- Type A is low yield, low waste
- Type B is high yield, higher waste
- Type C is very low yield, very high waste
Crystal Flavor | Mining Amount Bonus | Cycle Time Bonus | Residue Volume Multiplier Bonus (additive) | Residue Probability Bonus (additive) | Volatility |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Type A I | 1.5x | 1x | 0 | 0% | 10% |
Type B I | 1.5x | 0.9x | 0 | 20% | 15% |
Type C I | 0.25x | 1x | 18 | 40% | 24% |
Type A II | 1.8x | 1x | 0 | 3.6% | 12% |
Type B II | 1.8x | 0.8x | 0 | 30% | 19.6% |
Type C II | 0.2x | 1x | 28 | 59% | 30% |
Type B crystals have higher yield than type A crystals by nature of a faster cycle time (duration multiplier). Type B crystals will increase waste for mining lasers that have a Residue Volume greater than 0, but will add no extra waste for mining lasers with no Residue Volume of their own.
Modules:
All mining lasers now have two new stats associated with them: 'Residue Probability' and 'Residue Volume Multiplier'. Residue probability is the likelihood that the mining laser will create residue and destroy some of the yet untapped resources in the asteroid each cycle, while the Residue Volume Multiplier determines how much.
