Community Beat for 17 January
Hello spacefriends and welcome to the first Community Beat for 2025! It's a new year for New Eden as well - YC127, in fact.
Although many of us got to enjoy a little break sometime during the last month it sure didn't seem like the hard working creators in the EVE Online community took any time off. Let's check out some of the cool things that caught our eye since the last Beat...
EvE-Scout Enclave is turning 10
Congratulations to the EvE-Scout Enclave who are celebrating their 10th anniversary on 23 January! Dedicated to the principles of service and peaceful exploration, EvE-Scout is one of those rare organisations in New Eden who are universally respected throughout the cluster for their altruism, maintaining their neutrality over the years and providing assistance to over 5,000 stranded capsuleers in wormhole space thanks to their vast network of rescue caches.
They also maintain the EvE-Scout Wormhole Connections website which tracks all wormhole connections running through the systems of Thera and Turnur. In conjunction with their public bookmarks folder, any capsuleer can benefit from these services for free and potentially shave dozens of jumps off a long journey.
If you're trapped in a wormhole with no way home or want to subscribe to their public bookmarks folder and access their wormhole connections network just join the EvE-Scout channel in-game.
Life's a breach and then you die
Check out this PvP compilation by EVE Partner iBeast which showcases the power of the new Cenotaph battlecruiser and its SCARAB Breacher Pod damage-over-time weapon introduced in the Revenant expansion. More and more of the new Deathless ships are making their way into capsuleers' hangars and it's very gratifying to see how effective they can be in the hands of a skillful pilot, especially in such well a paced and brilliantly edited video.
Moving from PvP to education, new video maker Seraphin has kicked off their Youtube channel with their first (and so far only) video - an excellent tutorial on how to use the directional scanner. In the hands of a savvy capsuleer dscan can be an very powerful tool, helping both the hunter to track down their prey or the hunted to keep a watch out for danger and know when to bounce. Give it a watch and keep an eye on Seraphin's channel!
"Don't move it, push it!"
Freight company PushX published some end of year statistics covering the significant amount of work they did in the last year providing logistics services to the good people of New Eden.
If you want to see more head over to the Reddit thread where they published all their slides and if you would like to use PushX yourself to move your goods around New Eden check out their info post on the official EVE Online forums!
May Meetup in Madison
Federation Front Line Report is organising a player meetup for Wisconsin capsuleers later this year. It will be taking place the weekend after Fanfest at IO Arcade Bar (which looks awesome) in Madison. For more information check out their website and join the Discord!
Farewell wayne1
Sadly, we must end this edition of the Community Beat on a somber note. Last week the EVE community was met with the sad news that wayne1, a leader in the Banderlogs Alliance had passed away.
Tributes immediately began flowing in as people who had befriended him during his 20+ years playing EVE Online described his good natured and supportive personality and how he earned the trust and respect of all those he interacted with.
As is tradition a cyno vigil was organized and capsuleers from all over New Eden lit up the map from the system of B-9C24 for their absent friend. (Screenshot posted to Reddit by StarFleetCommander)
And as if to demonstrate how widely wayne1 was respected in EVE Online, pings were sent out on the Discords of alliances big and small, friendly and hostile, encouraging their members to attend the vigil if they wanted and instructing everyone to be respectful and avoid taking hostile action in and around B-9C24 until the observances had concluded.
A moving video of the cyno vigil was also created and uploaded by members of Synergy of Steel.
