Fanfest 2023 has begun!
Party-ready Capsuleers!
Following the glorious return of Fanfest in 2022, this year’s event is back with an even bigger bang!
The first day of the celebrations have just wrapped up in our Gróska HQ, where capsuleers gathered to catch up with old friends, steel themselves for a very busy weekend ahead, and enjoy some fantastic presentations too.

Making war, money & memories
First up at Gróska, Aethel Inkura of Odin’s Call Alliance shared some of the crucial lessons learned from their amazing - and some would say unexpected - run in Alliance Tournament XVII. Meanwhile Oz, New Eden’s most affable trillionaire, was on hand to deliver a market masterclass on spotting trade opportunities, and working those spreadsheets harder.
On the topic of trade, Eden Trade’s Becoming a Tycoon session provided insight into how just a small gap in the market can lead to a very, very large trading empire…
Elsewhere, Activor Faust took us on a journey through their experience of playing EVE Online from the very first launch day back in 2003, all the way through to the present day. On an equally touching theme, Max Singularity presented Beyond Pixels, a closer look at the impact New Eden has had on all of our lives.
Later, science educator, TV host and author Sævar Helgi Bragason’s Wonders of the Night mixed personal stories with scientific insight into our fascination with the night sky.
Films & friendship
That’s not all! Attendees also enjoyed an early screening of The Making of EVE Online - An Escapist Documentary, with the big evening premiere scheduled tonight at Bíó Paradís. Even better, you can enjoy the film yourself on the Escapist Youtube channel as of this Friday afternoon!
Elsewhere in Gróska, the EVE-Clusive Gamers Circle gathered to network and celebrate EVE’s diverse playerbase, while more social events followed in the form of bingo, a pub quiz, and a stand-up comedy session from Hugleikur Dagsson.
The EVE Monument looms larger
Last but by no means least, Fanfest attendees were joined today by CCP’s very own CCP Hellmar at a special ceremony to mark the expansion of the mighty Worlds Within A World EVE Monument.
Earlier this year, we called on capsuleers to join the legends of EVE and etch their legacy onto the expanded monument. Their place in EVE’s history is now assured, and the monument provides an even more powerful testament to everything we’ve achieved together over the last 20 years.
